Named One of the Top Ten Music Educators in USA by Music & Arts, 2019
Music is my passion. It has been my life’s journey learning to “speak” the language of music and understand its underlying structures. On the way, I have integrated performance, teaching, composing and sound engineering. It would be my privilege to help you on your journey.
I studied classical guitar with John Marlow, a protégé of Segovia and Dennis Sandole in Philadelphia. My principal teacher, mentor and guide was Frank Mullen in Washington, DC. As a guitarist, I was a member of US Navy Band and I have also performed extensively on the East Coast, USA and in UK.
I have written and published music with Hal Leonard, Music Minus One, Mel Bay, Music Sales, Kimbo Educational, and many others. One of my compositions, “The Grand Central March”, was premiered by the US Ceremonial Navy Band, and became the Official March of Grand Central Terminal, in New York. I have recorded a number of albums including transcriptions and my own original material. These include a music theater show, Surfing Music, classical arrangements, and cabaret songs of the English poet, Walter de la Mare, performed at Glasgow and Cambridge Universities. My research into ancient musical systems and instruments has been seen on the History Channel and Christian Broadcasting Network.
From beginners to advanced students, I teach all levels of guitar and ukulele, music theory and harmony, customized to whatever you need. With more advanced students, I also can offer chord melody arranging and improvisation. I teach accompaniment techniques such as fingerstyle, rhythm guitar and various Latin styles including Bossa Nova.
As a recording sound engineer, I have extensive experience, setting up the first full-service recording studio in Atlantic City, NJ in the 1980s, recording artists such as Glenn Campbell, Rich Little, Miss America, and Neil Sedaka, and I continue to maintain an active production studio.
